Teaching English In Japan

My wife and I are currently teaching English in Hong Kong under the Native English-speaking Teacher (NET) scheme. We are employed by the Hong Kong Education Department. Our contract will expire in August this year. We are now looking for job opportunities in the same area in Japan.

Do you know if Japan has a similar scheme? Is there a web site where I can search for this kind of information?

I am not looking for international schools as I know how to search for them. What I am after is employment with the Japanese government eg. Japanese Education Department.

Try the JET programme. it can be found on the Japanse embassy's website. Excellent pay - you have to hold a degree thogh and entry can be quite competitive.
