I am also Lactose intollerent, Had it confirmed by gastroscopy and biopsy, there are varying degrees, and I apparently have total Lactose intolerance, I have got used to having soya milk, I had to have a lot of my medication changed also, as a lot of tablets contain lactose to bind them, advise your mum to steer clear of chocolates, cheese, butters and some margarines etc, etc some baked beans in the cans also contain lactose, so if she is severely intollerant she should check the can labels. I must say when i was first diagnosed i was devastated at the amount of foods I couldn't have but I'm used to it now, and you do learn to substitute other things in the diet to make life semi normal again, it is better than ahving debilitating diarrhoea 25 times + in the day and loosing lots of weight like I did, I thought I had a terminal illness before Hospital found out what was wrong.
