I am looking for a native English-speaking (probably Australian) speech therapist/pathologist for my 3 year old son. His speech is difficult to understand, although he can say many words/phrases. His school have recommended we have him assessed. I also have a few concerns re: his chewing/sucking food.
No other issues though (as far as I know!). Hoping to find an Australian speech therapist, as he is shy and I think this will help build a faster rapport. Does anyone have any contacts?
you can look up The Hong Kong Association of Speech Therapists to see whether they offer courses in English.
here's their site: http://www.speechtherapy.org.hk/
My son did not start talking till he was past 4 and now he is absolutely ok
everyone said I should take him to a dr etc etc ,but I preferred not to as I had read that till 5 years , some children do not talk or they are not comprehendable
My son had some problems with language development and we saw an Australian speech therapist Kylie Platt who was absolutely great with him. She was practising at the Matilda but this was some 4 years ago so I'm not sure if she's still there (although she is definitely still in HK as I see her out and about from time to time).
Maybe worth giving the Matilda a call.
