I hope all is well with your packing and so on. I was just wondering if you can give me your thoughts on this topic.
From the reading I have done, it seems to be the case that yoga will help with fertility. However, I am a bit concerned with doing yoga during the 2ww and the first trimester.
I asked my yoga instructor today and he said just don't do any of the abdominal or backward bending postures and it should be fine. I have been going to Hatha and Kryoga and have purposedly avoided Hot Yoga.
I'll have to ask my Doctor contacts on this. I love yoga - have been doing prenatal yoga for all three pregnancies but it seems that what is normal for normal pregnancies isn't always the same for IVF. (Like - I ran 5km or more even right after baby dance with all three pregnancies and was fine - but IVF HIGHLY discourages exercise.)
My gut tells me that a lot of doctors will tell you to wait out until you clear 12 weeks. But I'm not sure. Again, this is always a mixed bag of responses to this. Some people will tell you YES no problem and others no. Have you asked your gyno as well?
I will ask my doc this week. I think his response will be wait til the second trimester.
Last month when I got pregnant from a natural cycle of IUI, I had a positive beta on Day 28 and by Day 31 my beta has gone down. (I did yoga during the 2ww and on Day 29.)
I am unlikely going to go to IVF - unless the doc recommends it - because we have now been pregnant twice in the last year with BD and natural cycle IUI (which has the same success rate as BD).
Havefaith - don't mean to break into the thread but last time I was pregnant I bought the Shiva Rea yoga for pregnancy DVD and it has a part of the program for the 1st trimester. This should mean that it is ok to do yoga during this time but maybe only able to do certain moves.
Thank you for that. I will take a look at my pregnancy DVD at home - to see what it says. My yoga instructor tells me that it is safe provided I feel well enough.
I LOVE Shiva Rea's prenatal yoga - my choice of yoga all three pregnancies as well - we think alike Starbucks.
But still - ask your ob. My dad says that there is NO CONCLUSIVE evidence from regular TTCing one way or another. But given your past experience - he says that perhaps rest is better.
Thanks again, HKCC. I asked Kelly (of Dr. Ho's clinic). She said the same thing - safer to stay away from yoga in the first trimester (including the 2 ww). Please thank your father for his advice for me.
I went to HMV in Central to buy it and they ddn't have any but searched on the computer and got me a copy from the Causeway Bay store. 2 days later I was able to pick it up from HMV Central. I did also see it on Amazon though so perhaps that is an option if HMV out of stock.
