Car Lover, if we were to compare a Polycom View Station ( IMHO the best VC system there is and the most commonly used via blue chip organisations ) to an off the shelf web cam using any of the very low bandwidth and non secure online applications you nominated, it would be like comparing the space shuttle to a paper plane lol.
You cannot encrypt via IP addressable locations, you cannot cascade multiple site streams, say, four 384kbps / 30FPS sites at the same time using "online msn/skype and the like systems, and the video/audio quality and motion of a polycom, also Picturetel, VC system is outstanding via 3 ISDN lines. You can even hook these systems to a server and broad cast the conference via a administrator controlled stream cast too. Really nice gear to use via simple guided user interfaces.
Rossy is obvioulsy researching a " professional " VC system for the company that he works for, and I'd say it's to reduce business airline travel, as these systems when used with large screen plasma or HD projection systems are extremely detailed and life like.
Nobody who is serious about doing business via a dedicated VC / IP addressable secure peer to peer system, uses YM / Skype or MSN to VC. It really made me chuckle that it was even mentioned, especially if you search engine what a Polycom VC system is capable of...lol www.polycom.com just for the education lesson.
Now back to Rossy, http://www.vega.com.hk < they sell Polycom gear, give them a call they should be able to assist you.
Cheers
PS: I wonder how many boardrooms are out there that use online messenger conferening systems lol, it really must be difficult for an audience of 8 or more people to really see whats going on, in a word, why bother? Not to mention the near unintelligible/lagged audio quality, certain to switch off most peoples attention spans.
