What is the best time to go to Beijing? Family coming in from overseas in July/Aug and travelling to Beijing. Anyone booked an English speaking tour from HK before and any tips in general?

July and August are very hot to travel in Beijing- but not too crowded. Best times are May, June, Septenber, October. English speaking China Specialist tour agent in Shanghai- Classic Travel 2164160808, email monica@classictravel.net.cn

I used Dragin Air package which included English speaking guide, car & driver. Very convenient and price is reasonable. I went in Oct. and was great.

just don't go on january-march, the wind is strong and cold and caruing dust.while summer if you can bear the heat july-august is nice, not too crowded at all. i know becouse i'm a foreign student live in beijing :-)

Hi, coming from Hong kong you would know how hot it would get in July/Aug. You could easily arrange for lodgings and English speaking tours in Beijing through online services. For tours and service apartments in Beijing:

Hi Oceanview - with the Dragon Air tours, did the tour guide take you to a lot of "shopping" tours like visits to jade factories or medical pharmacies? I hear most tours in Beijing do "detours" to these places and it takes quite a it of time. I am not too keen on the shopping side as will be bringing my elderly parents and kids.

I will recommend that you book the free & easy airline package ( flight and hotel at the 3rd ring) so that you can walk at your own pace.
Tiannamen Square, Forbidden City, Behai park are easily reached by taxi.
You can either charter a taxi or use the hotel travel desk for the Summer Palace/Great Wall which is quite far from the city.

i had been in beijing in summer.i think it's a good time to visit july after july. there was a service of english tour. i remember the website is www.ptpbj.com . they're really cool
